Zebra Blinds offers installation guides on how to measure your windows in order to simplify the process of measuring your windows for horizontal blinds. Depending on your placement preference of your blind, there are two different options to consider when it comes to window coverage; inside mount and outside mount.

The most efficient way to take measurements for your horizontal window blinds is using a measuring tape. The process of measuring is simple. The first step of the process is taking down the measurements for the exact height, length and width of your window. 

When measuring for an inside mount, it is important to provide the exact measurements without any deductions. 

An important tip to consider when measuring a window for horizontal blinds is to take measurements for each window to assure there are no minimal size differences that could affect your blind.

Providing a measurement for an outside mount is slightly different. It is important to account for the manufacturer to shorten about 5/8th on each side for the width since the bracket will be installed on the outside of the window frame. Therefore, it is recommended to provide a measurement of approximately 2 inches more on each side of the window. This will avoid the blind being too short or too small and ensure that the fabric covers the entirety of the window. 

Once you receive your blinds, the installation process is very simple and can be complete in just a few steps! All the necessary pieces and hardware will arrive with your order. In addition, you will also need a drill or screwdriver to assist in the installation of attaching your wall brackets. 

Some additional tools that will be helpful during the installation process are a pencil, a level and a pair of scissors.

An important component to consider when installing horizontal blinds is making sure that the your brackets and headrail are aligned with your window. 

For the installation of the outside mount, this involves the bracket of the blind being installed on the window itself or on the wall. For the inside mount, the mount is installed inside of the window frame. It is important to follow the instruction manual provided with your blinds in order to achieve the correct installation. 

For the outside mount, one of the main tips to consider is marking 1/8 on each side of your headrail using a pencil so that the bracket will be installed in the correct location.
